Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the Kachhwaha Rajput ruler of Amer, after whom the city is named It is one of the earliest planned cities of modern India, designed by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. During the British colonial period, the city served as the capital of Jaipur State. After Indian independence in 1947, Jaipur was made the capital of the newly formed state of Rajasthan in 1949.

It was initially established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and has since evolved to become one of India’s principal tiger reserves. The reserve is primarily known for its diurnal tigers, which unlike most, remain active during the day. Owing to the significant number of tigers freely roaming within the park, visitors are almost guaranteed to spot some during their visit. Tigers live nonchalantly within the reserve, leading to frequent sightings of them playing with their cubs or hunting for prey.
